Happening now, at the Oriental, overlooking Valley Gardens. Very much a landmark for many. On fire with two pumps attending. Oh well, somebody set fire to a bench outside in the gardens earlier in the week, maybe they have moved on to bigger projects.
UPDATED - Passed by this morning and everything looks in reasonable shape, not apparently any untidier than it was. Both doors boarded but they already were. Looks like the Fire Brigade have come up trumps!
One of the handy things about having a "Blue light Hub" in Pontefract (Fire, Police and Ambulance service based at Stumps Cross, delivered by Phil Booth when he was Chairman of the West Yorkshire Fire Authority).
