Jobs and skills for our future

Wanted - 21 Council Candidates

Over the next four years there will be 21 local council seats contested in the Parliamentary Constituency Area of Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford. All of them currently occupied by Labour Councillors.who are apologists for the Labour controlled Wakefield Metropolitan District Council.

There are people who have already come forward to contest some of those seats on behalf of local communities.

Do you believe that you can make a contribution to a better local council?

Do you want to represent people from your local community, focusing on their needs and interests?

Do you believe that it is time to call a halt on WMDC's 40 years of Labour control?

There will be seats in Pontefract South and North, Normanton, Airedale and Ferry Fryston, Ferrybridge and Knottingley, Castleford Central and Glasshoughton and Altofts and Whitwood.

Doing the right thing is not always easy. But for some elected members in Wakefield it is time that you did!

I wonder when the six Pontefract Labour Councillors are going to push back at their colleagues to ensure that Pontefract gets the attention that it deserves and needs. I suspect there may be some heart searching going on about the plans to close the three swimming pools that are serving the five towns. I also suspect that there are some difficult times ahead when they ignore the 7000 person petition raised by the Pool Users Group organised by Jeff Allinson
